2009BBC Wildlife Finder: Service layer for the BBC Natural History RESTful semantic webservice from a variety of processed datasources.

1999-presentCPAN: I try to share as much as useful of the software I write for my own purposes, from simple image resizing modules to Perl’s only Tk-Wizard.

2007GSK Four-month project to port an ancient (15-20-year old) Perl/C/Fortran/CSH/KSH molecular discovery application from SGI Irix to Linux.

2007Ad.com Part of AOL/TimeWarner, Advertising.com have offices in 11 European capitals. Duties as Senior Developer seem to be maintaining old, sometimes fragile applications.

2006BBC Radio & Music Interactive R&D SMS Thought Cloud: from a dream by Tristen Ferne, the SMS Thought Cloud is currently displaying on the Radio 1 homepage a summary of all SMS messages to the station.

2006BBC Radio & Music Interactive R&D Audio Notes: creation of server-side system for the world’s first (known) wiki for audio files. To a plan by the BBC, mod_perl application included bespoke versioning system.

2005European Aviation Safety Agency: proviision of a WWW-basd public content managemenet system as a mod_perl/Oracle application. Development of the complete system with the aid of Georgios the Oracle Hero….

2004BBC Digital Curriculum, later re-named BBC Jam. Provision of rapidly-developed robust back-end content management system as a mod_perl/MySQL application, to integrate BBC content with the unusual Microsoft Jam system. Complex environment.

2003-ProCheckUp Security Appliance: Provision of a mod_perl/MySQL system to capture, store, and report on the output of the company’s award-winning security software.

2003-PhotoWebServer, a complete Apache mod_perl/MySQL web application for catalouging, manipulating, server, selling and tracking images.

2002Northfoto: Central and Eastern Europe’s premier international photography agency. Website and application development, deployment and maintainance.

2002Singapore Bookshop: Singapore’s first and largest online bookshop, specialising in educatinal materials. Perl CGI e-commerce engine development and deployment.

2002Polygon KftPolygon’s pXML was a Java/XML interface between the internet and IBM AS/400s, providing the a GUI for the AS/400. Java analysis, documentation, and testing.

2001Virtual Health Network Electronic Medicine Compendium. Funded by VHN and Datapharm, part of the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industries. A total document conversion and publication system for XML, HTML and PDF.

2000General Electric (Europe) Lighting, with Design Motive. Perl-based page creation with pixel-perfect cross-browser precision.

2000Ready2Shop, with Victoria Real, was the VC-funded ‘dot com’ flop from Trinny & Susanah, latterly of What Not To Wear fame. The image shown here was their own choice of promotional material.

1996Visa Euro, Geneva: for Victoria Real: prior to the launch of the Euro, this secure site dispersed highly-sensitive information site.

1996University of Sussex Students’ Union, webmaster for 1998-9, in which time I developed an online NNTP reader, a CMS, and a wiki before I’d seen a wiki.

1996-JavaScript/CSS Pacman: one of the earliest online Pacman games. This is what I was doing whilst studying for an Honours Degree in English.
